It's Raining Sales!!! 4th of July Sales Are Here!

4th of July is here people and that means one thing, and one thing only.  No, I'm not talking about family picnics, parades, and fireworks galore, I'm talking about blockbuster sales!

I'm sure your inboxes are like mine and filled with email alerts from your favorite stores notifying you of their sales.  Who do choose, you ask?  Who is offering some of the best buys?  Where to begin, right?

Here are a few of my favs this 4th of July:

Boden USA

I have admired these clothes for a while and finally made my first purchase this spring.  I've been extremely pleased with the quality of merchandise.  I love the styling of some of their clothes in their catalog and think they have some great accessories on sale right now.  Here are a few you must check out:

This necklace was featured in several Boden catalog pics and I think it is steal at $30 (originally $78).

I also love this scarf and it is a great price at $28 (originally $48).  Doesn't it just make you feel happy?

I also love this belt.  The color just jumps out at you!  It's marked down to $32 from $48.  And think outside the box with this one.  Boden had it paired with navy pants and a yellow patterned shirt in their catalog and it looked great!

I really like several of their tunics and kaftans but these 2 standout to me as great buys.

This turquoise kaftan is on sale for $58.

And this tunic is now $52 (originally $88).

Both the tunic and the kaftan come in other colors but size availability varies.

Boden charges $10 for shipping but doesn't charge sales tax in most states, so that kind of makes up for the shipping cost.

Garnet Hill
Swimsuits on sale!!!

That doesn't necessarily excite you, does it?  Nothing is more brutal shopping-wise than trying to find a good swimsuit for your body.   I've always been suspect of purchasing swimsuits on-line since it's always a wild card with how a swimsuit is actually going to fit on your body, regardless of what the picture looks like.

So back in February I decided to shop early and take advantage of some preseason sales so I wouldn't be scrambling at the last minute if we decided to go away in the spring.   I bought a one-piece swimsuit from Garnet Hill and I've loved it.  Worth every penny and now their swimsuits are on sale!  They are made of really high quality fabric and the one-pieces do a great job of sucking in your mid section and giving support up top.  Their suits are really true to size, so stick with your dress size when ordering.

This is the one I bought back in February in mums.  The suits are marked down to $49 from $88 and include free shipping.

And this suit was featured in O Magazine and is now on sale for $49 as well.

I know many of you out there might not be on the one-piece bandwagon.  But I swear they are more flattering than tankinis.  Don't just rely on me, though.  Fashion guru at O Magazine Adam Glassman has said that wearing a tankini is about the single biggest swimsuit mistake women can make!  The material just never hangs right at the waist and can make you look frumpy, or even worse, pregnant when you aren't!   So don't get sucked into thinking it is a better move than the one-piece!!

Okay, remember free shipping on all swimsuits and most are 50%.  Get them while they last!!

This pettiskirt has been featured numerous times in their catalogs and is just to-die-for cute!  The skirt is available in pink or green and marked down to $50 from $80.  There aren't a ton of sizes left, so grab them while you can!

Orient Expressed

This website carries traditional southern children's clothing and their sale cannot be beat!  Right now is their $5-$30 bin sale that includes these adorable finds:

This nautical tee and swim trunk set was originally $54 and is now on sale for $10.

Below are a few cute pieces from the $15 bin for the little man in your life!

And here's a few fun items from the $20 bin.

The $25 bin has some adorable little girl clothes as well.

Seriously, such cute stuff to load up on!  Monogramming is an additional $10.  Shipping costs depend on the order size but there is no sales tax if you live outside Louisiana.

Deal of the Day: Old Navy Flip Flops for $2.50 each!!!!

There is no better way to enjoy a summer afternoon than kickin' it in some comfy flip flops.  And there is no better bargain out there than the colorful array of flops at Old Navy.  Below is their pink flop:

And here is the same flip flop in cockteal hour:

And here's a fun red pair as we head into the holiday weekend:

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=65950

These flip flops are available in 19 colors and I say buy them all!!  Old Navy's current price for each individual pair is already a great buy at $3.50, but if you buy two pair, the price drops to $2.50 per pair.  So for $50 you can get 19 pairs of flip flops and have a spark of color to add to any outfit!  And don't forget that Old Navy offers free shipping on all orders over $50!

So you're thinking 19 pairs of flip flops seems too much?  Okay, probably.  So buy 6 pair for $15 and pick up a few other items during thier 4th of July sale and you'll soon reach the $50 threshold for free shipping.

As we make the turn this weekend past 4th of July and retailers start getting ready for fall, I would order these before they disappear!  I would expect any of these flip flops left in the store will be marked down for Old Navy's big 4th of July sale (however they are not marked down any further on-line as of today).  So if you have a chance to pop in an Old Navy, you might be able to score these for as low as $1.50 per pair.

Calypso St. Barth for Target is très chic and now 30% off!!!

Did anyone else notice the super stylish summer line Calypso St. Barth at their local Target and do a double take?!  The first time I noticed the clothes I had 2 kids in tow and therefore got nothing but a quick glance.  I recently caught up on some summer fashion magazines and saw the line featured in a few spreads.  I hurried over to my Target over the weekend and saw most of the line was already gone, with a few pieces hanging on the 30% rack.  I got home and immediately jumped onto www.target.com and hit the money jackpot!  Most items in the collection are in stock and 30% off.  To top it off, Target is offering free shipping on orders over $50.  I went ahead and ordered a few more pieces than I will probably keep, since shipping is free, and Target is so easy about returns.

I LOVE their little girl clothes!!!  Here are a few of my favorites:
This dress is now $11.89.  You can find it here:

Let's Find a Deal!

I am starting this blog for those folks out there like me who LOVE a bargain!  I was trained in the skill of bargain shopping from my mother, a former buyer for the Sanger Harris department store chains.  I fondly remember trips to Valley View Mall with my mom, trying to keep up behind her as she scoured the stores for deals.  Mom had it all figured out.  We parked on the second level, just outside the Dillards entrance, because at that time, with a mall that boasted both Bloomingdales and Sanger Harris, Dillards parking was always a ghost town.  We hit the sales bright and early and always scored amazing deals.  Mom NEVER paid full price and, for that very reason, I find it impossible to pay full price for anything.  It literally causes me physical pain, and emotions of great disappointment, if I pay full price for something I know will go on sale.

Fast forward to today's world and, like most of you, I do the great majority of my shopping on-line.  There are some fantastic deals out there -- on great stuff -- if you can find them.  Oftentimes these deals are short-lived, sometimes a few hours, othertimes a few days.  I plan on sharing my secrets to getting great clothes, toys, and home decor -- all at heavily discounted prices -- here.  There are a few rules I live by when shopping on-line that this blog will also follow: (1) never shop on a website that doesn't accept returns; (2) always try to snag free shipping; and (3) always utilize credit cards to your benefit when shopping (more on this later).

I also spend a lot of my free time treasure hunting at places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and Tuesday Morning.  I love finding deals.  I really feel a rush of adrenaline and excitement when I score a super-duper deal.  So I'm here to share my finds and hope some of you find this site helpful.

Happy Shopping!
